It would be nice to create some peace in our lives to allow for our creative, healthy juices to flow: To meditate on our newest piece of work or to nourish our bodies with a long bikram yoga class.
But in all honesty, we are not going to do that. And the Huffington Post’s Dr. Patricia Fitzgerald knows that and doesn’t judge us. Though adopting a better diet and exercise regimen is truly the most long-lasting way to reduce stress and energize our bodies and minds—not everyone can make a life change RIGHT NOW, and that’s okay!
Part of feeling positive and prepared to take on each day begins with nutrition. And Dr. Fitzgerald has named a few new herbs for you to introduce into your diet . . . and how hard is that, really?
The herbs are from traditional Chinese medicine and are currently being referred to as “adaptogenic herbs.” They work on the body as a whole, fighting off stessors and balancing out the body without causing any harm whatsoever. A few Dr. Fitzgerald lists are:
Panax (Asian) Ginseng: which works as an anti-depressant, and boosts memory, calmness, energy, endurance, and well-being
Rhodiola: treats stress, depression, fatigue
Holy Basil: helps with stress, headaches, digestive issues, and is an antioxidant
Reishi Mushroom: calms anxiety, treats insomnia, and lowers blood pressure
And these are just a few live changing herbs. Maybe once we try them we will feel calm enough to squeeze in that bikram class and cut out that nightly gorge-on-bread-and-chocolate session.
